What a excellent site

Hi my name is Murray Thomas

First joined the WA Sporting Car Club back in 1962

I am still a member of the WASCC

All though I now live in Brisbane I still am a member of the Wascc

Like to know what is going over there in the West

As the WASCC forum folded this is a lifeline

Received a message on my email last friday night about this site from Rob Hagarty which I read about 4 am the next morning

So I have followed up and joined

Hope to be an asset to this forum

I have some early Caversham slides I hope to put on the site

1962 AGP

And then what I can dig up

For those people who dont know me

I raced at Caversham in the early sixtys

Drove in lots of Car club events

Won a round of the WA rally championship in 1970

Drove in the 1970 round Australia Trial

Raced various cars at Wanneroo


Vw,s Datsuns Austin healey Sprites plus my BARP9 Clubman which I still own

I have driven varoius Porsches in Classic rally's plus a Maserati

Now I just fang my Porsche around various circuits in QLD

And looking forward to my first ever drive at Lakside in July

So I will hope I will be a asset to this Site

I will post as much of my old photos and slides as soon as I can

I will try to get some other racers from my Caversham days to join this forum plus my co driver in a couple of Six hour races at Wanneroo

Having trouble with the tekno stuff !!

Aka cavvy it reflects my 1957 history with my Dad to watch his workmate Fred Coxon in the AGP - Mr Coxon took me for a spin in his racing car around the streets of Scarboro sitting on his lap, before Plod in his motor bike & sidecar intervened.

Bit hot the 57 GP !!

The likes of Ray Bell have described the event as the low point in AGP history ... shoot him at dawn.

Guys, speedway history needs you !! No WA history I know off. Bob Tattersall sat me in his #55 Saylor Offy at Reimann Motors in Loftus St Leederville in the 50s ... photos please .... Friday night is speedway night !!!!!!

Remember the sorrow when Mr Geneve (Mick) died at Caversham.

Love Terry Walkers work - sent him a bunch of slides, now a permanent memory.
