Not long to wait now only 2 weeks before we are off to the Is.
It's too late if you haven't done your entry, and yes, if you haven't had your annual audit done well I am afraid that you will be going to visit the Victorian equivalent of our Tess and you may not get the same results as you would here in the West. 15 JKL and S attended the audit so we should be able to field a nice collection of Motor Cars this year. A notable absentee was Alistair in the Dodge but he assures me that he has the new rear end in the car and will get the last pieces of the log book paperwork done before the season kicks off. Alistair you promised!
Some have already been out at the tuning days I have noted and they are looking good. Follow this link if you want to see who's been out practising.

I chose the Jack's Hill Hillclimb (VSCC) to test out the BMH and had a great time learning that 27degrees of Ackerman angle equates to some fantastic turn in on sharp turns so I am busting to line it up in Honda and MG. Was also great to see the brothers Cocks out in the Cacti and Silver Wings, as well, The White Moose (Sorry Mouse) was at it, Great to see these group J cars, they make much more noise and smoke than others, they are also much more majestic than those euro/evo/sti/4W drive things that just go like the wind. A good roll up and it was a pleasant afternoon for everyone and a great format of running it as a twilight meeting after the regularity. As the annual audit for JKL and S racing cars were on the same day most could not attend the regularity meeting but we did hear that fun was there for the taking and plenty of track time and space.
Which brings me to the laugh of the Month!
What's the difference between Mad Max in the Lucalia and the Comic Book? Ans: 5 seconds and 50 years. And if you want to see the evidence, results of Jacks Hill are on the VSCC Website.

Lake Perkolilli
After all of the fun at Phillip Island, why not take a relaxing drive up to Kalgoorlie, take in the Langtree's tour, and the Miners Hall of Fame then off to the Cruickshank Oval to watch the re-run of our first ever motor race at Boulder or as it has become colloquially known as the Boulder Dash. Then it is off to the Lake to stir up the clay. And afterward it's back to Hay St for a quick shower and whatever.
Some cars are returning to Northam and will stay on display until the following weekend of the Flying 50.

Best we all start praying that the cyclone season is abating and no big fronts go through and dampen our track.
Regularity Events & Around the Houses
One regularity down and many more to come, as I said in the January FERN. The February WASCC event sprang up rather quickly on most and with the JKL and S Racing cars undergoing Pre Season Audit the roll up was too low. Now you only have two other opportunities to run at Barbagallo this year. The WASCC Regularity and the Vintage Stampede. Both later in the year! See the calendars for events which are available here at Speedwest, or on the VSCC and WASCC websites.
That leaves you one other circuit event at Collie and then the rest are the Around the Houses events. Northam is not very far away either, so best be getting out to the shed and get to work. Entry forms on the VSCC website.

Championship Series
A Smorgasbord of events is available to those who have refined the art of Regularity. Two Regularity meetings at Barbagallo with WASCC, you can add the Vintage Stampede (VSCC) and a Collie circuit Regularity (VSCC) to make 4 if you like the circuits. If your persuasion is for the streets events it's your lucky day too. Kalgoorlie in March then a leisurely drive back to Northam for the following weekend at Northam (VSCC) in the Flying 50 you might as well take in the Hill climb at Mt Ommaney whilst you are at it. Then Albany is on the June long weekend. 30th of May. Unfortunately it clashes with Winton this year so the Victorian Trophy hunters won't be there.
Championship Series
Well John Budgen clean swept the regularity at both clubs WASCC and VSCC as I predicted, it has to be a record and it would have made him "The Oldest State Championship Series Winner" ever! That is if we had a championship. My earlier request for feedback about a championship resulted in the total response of Zero Point Zero Zero, so I have too assume that we are not quite ready for such a thing. Let me know if you want a series!!!
Caversham
Last Month I presented a compassionate plea to the City of Swan Councillors on behalf of interested members of the public and the VSCC to preserve the Caversham Motor Raceway. If we want to save the raceway for use in Around the Houses type events we need lots of help given the developments proposed in the area. The VSCC committee is forming a working group to action plans to save the circuit from needless redevelopment and are looking for assistance. Contact the club and put your hand up to help. Even if the political scene isn't your cup of tea you can still help out and have a great time with Dad's Army, they are starting to look more and more like a private men's club out there! Click the link below to discover how you can help!
See what's happening at Caversham
The March newsletter will be a Phillip Island special and with our pseudo official Photographers (Barnes and Barnes) attending I am sure that we will be treated to some great shots of the meeting. I will have the camera going again in the Comic Book so long as it doesn't rain and I don't fall off the Island we should be able to give some great insight to how it went.
See you all out there!!!
