Well it's 2009 and time to ask all of those questions like when does my CAMS licence expire? Have I paid my club fees yet? Too late if you haven't it will cost extra now if you missed the WASCC December discount cut off! When is the 1st event? What am I running in this year? Is there a championship??? All of the answers are right here at FERN (that's the Front Engine Racing Car News for those who didn't get the first take).
Annual Audit date for For Historic Groups J, K, L and S racing cars is;

Lake Perkolilli
Next Item of news is Lake Perkolilli. Have you ever been? Did you know you were invited? Did you know it is the 1st Motor Racing Circuit in WA and where all the early speed events were held including the endurance trials?
An event not to be missed Centenary of Motor Car Racing in Western Australia at the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community Fair from 27th to 28th March 2009. A Back to Lake Perkolilli event will be held on Sunday 29th March to coincide with the Centenary. It is a 2 mile salt pan circle and amazingly fast and safe. Impossible to run anything over because there is nothing there to run over, except salt bush maybe. The Lake is about 25kms east of Kalgoorlie and a bit like a 2 mile version of Claremont Speedway without the fences. After we view the 100th Centenary race in Kalgoorlie we will be heading out to the Lake to have a run on the circuit. Pre war cars only I am afraid. BYO air cleaner because it can get a touch dusty at times.

Phillip Island
Yes J, K, L and S are ready to go and it should be another fun year on the Island. Just cannot wait to get some more of that nice Victorian Silverware they gave away as trophies last year. Our first race events in WA don't start until we have returned and I am sure everyone has been busy over the Xmas period getting their cars ready, I am a little behind and the engine isn't back in the Comic Book as yet but I will be ready at the Audit on the 7th of Feb. Brian, please book me in!!!
There is still room at the Coachman in Cowles if you need a bed. For those that don't know The Coachman is a bit like the training camp for Phillip Is. You know where you go to relax and have beer type training. Google it! You will find the number. Entries close 13th of Feb so if you are thinking about going best get one in real quick and see if there are any spaces left.
Regularity Events
A Smorgasbord of events is available to those who have refined the art of Regularity. Two Regularity meetings at Barbagallo with WASCC, you can add the Vintage Stampede (VSCC) and a Collie circuit Regularity (VSCC) to make 4 if you like the circuits. If your persuasion is for the streets events it's your lucky day too. Kalgoorlie in March then a leisurely drive back to Northam for the following weekend at Northam (VSCC) in the Flying 50 you might as well take in the Hill climb at Mt Ommaney whilst you are at it. Then Albany is on the June long weekend. 30th of May. Unfortunately it clashes with Winton this year so the Victorian Trophy hunters won't be there.
Championship Series
I have been talking up a Series for the regularity participants; Add racing Cars as well, I thought it would be good to have a series just too see who the best driver in this good state is really? You know like No. 1. Budgie was the best at the WASCC last year and I am waiting to see who is Top Dog at the VSCC but hey why are we running two club championships when we would be the smallest group of participants. I want to know who the best driver in this good state is. Judging by the club champion he is over 65 or it might even be 70 and not in the fastest machine either!!
Let me know if you want a series and I will do my best to make it work. Call me and give some feedback.
Caversham
Event is programmed for the 15th of November 2009.

Are You Ready?
If I count up the events you could run in more than 12 this year as there is now two Collie events as well. There are effectively 4 ART's, 5 circuit races, 4 circuit Regularity events and for the ambitious there is PI, Winton and as we are planning Hampton in NZ. We will be going to NZ to teach them how it's done in January 2010. So no complaints please, plenty of choice and variety right throughout the year, all it needs is participation so hop onto the Club websites it's all there.
